Message from the Headteacher, Martyn Beales:
"The school is set in beautiful grounds, where there is plenty of opportunity to study science, geography and history first hand. The school places a strong emphasis on English and Mathematical skills from the very start, together with the challenging learning practices involved with scientific investigation and Information Communication Technology. All these subjects, together with music, art and craft, PE and RE are fully covered in a series of plans especially constructed for development. The lessons are varied - whole class, groups and individual teaching take place according to which is the most effective delivery of the lesson content. The children's spiritual, moral, cultural and social education is also planned alongside the other subjects."
"The school has 6 classrooms, which have all the facilities and equipment required to support the National Curriculum work carried out by the children."
"The reception unit is semi-autonomous, with its own playground and outside working area. Initially the children are assessed to ascertain their academic and social skills, and then developmental activities are provided to enable the children to progress steadily through the school curriculum."
"Year 2 is the last year of the first Key Stage, and the national tests (SATs) take place during this year. Although each year presents different challenges for the child, the learning is paced throughout the three years so that development is ensured."
"We want all children in our care to become learners in the truest sense of the word. As four-year-olds they are naturally enthusiastic, energetic and full of fun but above all they are curious about the world around them. We aim to harness this natural curiosity and develop it into a love of learning, which will stay with them for the rest of their lives."
"Governors here have high expectations and year on year we are impressed by the achievements of the staff and pupils. We believe that this is because the good management, organisation, teaching and support work in the school are built upon the basis that the children and the adults around them all value each other. The Governors are delighted that OFSTED so clearly recognised our strong caring ethos and the part that it plays in the children's personal and academic progress. We know that any successful school depends upon a real partnership between parents, pupils, the Headteacher, staff and governors. We do hope that you and your child will want to share in that partnership."
